Ex- National Football League Star Antonio Brown Files Not Guilty Response in Murder Attempt Charges

One-time NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is traveling to Miami to face an attempted murder charge stemming from a incident that happened in May, as his attorney entering a not guilty response on his behalf.

Correctional records in Essex, New Jersey, indicate that Brown was discharged on Tuesday early for his relocation to Florida. Brown, one of the most popular players in the NFL, had waived extradition to Florida from New Jersey, where he was held after being taken into custody in Dubai.

Brown’s attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, said in an communication that he has earlier submitted a documented not guilty plea to the attempted murder allegation. Brown could be in a Miami court as soon as Wednesday morning for a bail proceeding, Eiglarsh added.

According to his detention order, Brown is accused of grabbing a handgun from a security staffer after a celebrity boxing contest in May and shooting multiple rounds at a man he had confronted with earlier. The claimed target, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, informed investigators that a bullet grazed his nape.

Eiglarsh asserted that Brown was merely defending himself from Nantambu.

“The measures he was forced to take were solely in self-protection against the claimed individual’s hostile actions. Brown was assaulted that night and responded within his rightful entitlement to safeguard himself,” Eiglarsh commented.

Brown was not promptly detained because at first authorities did not consider Nantambu as a target. It only subsequently in May that Nantambu delivered a complete testimony about the event to authorities and pointed out Brown as the shooter, the affidavit says.

According to his digital updates, Brown had been staying in Dubai for multiple period. In a message after the altercation, Brown said he was defending himself because he was “attacked by multiple people who sought to rob my jewelry and inflict physical damage to me.”

A category two murder attempt allegation in the state of Florida imposes a highest fifteen-year prison sentence and up to a $10,000 fine in the instance of a finding.

Brown has faced multiple court problems over the time. He previously had been accused of assault of a truck operator, various abuse allegations, failure to pay family payments and other occurrences.

During a 2021 game with his team against the opponents, Brown stripped off his jersey, protective gear and handwear and left the field, leading to his termination by the Buccaneers and effectively concluding his football tenure.
