Survivor Recounts Time That 'Evil Attacker' Struck Northern Manchester Synagogue

A person who helped barricading a synagogue in northern Manchester has recounted how a violent assault took place, resulting in the deaths of two Jewish individuals.

On Thursday morning, a congregant was inside the Heaton Park synagogue when an attacker crashed into and assaulted worshippers gathering for a service to observe Yom Kippur.

Mr Levy stated that the 'deranged' attacker attempted to break down the doors of the place of worship, and he remembered locking down the facility with fellow congregation members.

Two individuals, aged 53 and 66 lost their lives in the violence on that day, while additional persons were injured while trying to protect congregants.

Survivor Description of the Incident

Mr Levy, who serves as a Chair of the Trustees at the house of worship, described holding the entry points and stated that the assailant employed knives and garden containers to force his way inside.

I observed a large, menacing figure forcefully push in the front doors, trying to bash them down holding a sharp weapon," he explained to interviewers.

"The only thing that could be discerned he uttered 'this is what you're going to get for killing our children'.

Just those words were spoken. And we were behind the doors and we were saying 'we are not letting this man in'.

"He was a crazed, violent individual."

Ceremony Observed for Deceased

The comments came as hundreds of people took part in the memorial for Mr Cravitz.

Close kin, members from the synagogue group including Rabbi Daniel Walker, and individuals of the broader community came together in Pendlebury, Salford to honor the deceased.

Those present crowded the cemetery forecourt, with several standing outdoors the prayer hall in the rain, listening to the proceedings over audio systems.

Through a statement issued on Friday, the victim's loved ones said that he had a helpful nature.

Authorities Investigation and Detentions

Greater Manchester Police stated that Mr Daulby appeared to have been hit by law enforcement rounds as they engaged the assailant following the alarm was raised.

Mr Daulby, who was hailed by his relatives as a "brave individual", was present at a ceremony at the house of worship when the incident occurred.

He had been a cherished sibling, devoted uncle to his several nieces and a nephew and a cherished cousin," his loved ones noted.

"The family is stunned by the sudden passing of such a lovely down to earth man.

His last actions demonstrated great bravery and he remains in memory for his heroic act."
